iPad Floating Keyboard Issue (Small/Square Keyboard)

Problem

When using Bluerithm on iPad (particularly in installed mode), the on-screen keyboard appears as a small floating square instead of the full-size keyboard.

Cause

This is an iPadOS feature called the "floating keyboard." It can be triggered accidentally by pinching inward on the keyboard, and iPadOS sometimes defaults to it in installed apps.

Solutions

To restore the full-size keyboard, use any of these methods:

  1. Pinch outward with two fingers on the small keyboard to expand it to full size.
  2. Drag the floating keyboard to the bottom of the screen using the bar at the bottom of the keyboard. This will dock it and restore the full layout.
  3. Tap and hold the keyboard icon in the bottom-right corner of the floating keyboard, then select "Dock" from the menu.

Prevention

Avoid pinching inward on the keyboard with two fingers, as this will shrink it back to the floating view. Once docked, the keyboard should remain full-size for future sessions.

Applies To

  • iPad (all models)
