How do I keep text spacer rows when using Excel Edit?

Excel Edit updates every table on the work item (the Category dropdown), not one table. On import, column types from the spreadsheet headers apply to every row. Empty text-box rows that you used as line breaks in a Pass / Fail / N/A checkbox column are turned back into checkboxes. That is expected in the new app.

There is no per-row shortcode in Excel Edit that keeps those spacer rows as text. {txt}  on a row was for the older per-table spreadsheet upload, when a table could be Open.

To keep visual breaks and still use Excel Edit, put each section in its own table:

  1. Open the work item and click Excel Edit.
  2. Under Export, click DOWNLOAD when you are editing the same items. Use DOWNLOAD AS TEMPLATE only for new work.
  3. Keep each section as its own table block in the spreadsheet, or after import click Add Table and move that section into the new table.
  4. Put the section title in the table description. The gap between tables is the line break.
  5. Save, then BROWSE... and IMPORT.

Do not use Switch To Text on a Pass / Fail / N/A column header to fix one spacer row. That switches the entire column and removes the checkboxes on every row.
